*The Gold Medalist will be offered a major concerto performance with the San Antonio Symphony in the Fall of 2010 for a stipulated fee.

Dates:
October 11 – 17, 2009, San Antonio, Texas USA
Competition Piano:
Steinway and Yamaha pianos will be provided for the Competition. Each contestant will have a designated time for piano selection on Monday, October 12 (Semifinal Round), and again on Thursday, October 15 (Final Round).
Competition Rounds:
There are three rounds of competition: Preliminary, Semifinal and Final. During the Preliminary Round, all CD’s will be heard by a panel of three judges. These judges will determine which ten (10) contestants will advance to the Semifinal Round and which five (5) contestants will be named alternates. All contestants will receive a letter informing them of their standing in the competition after the Preliminary Round. The ten (10) Semifinalists will present a public performance in San Antonio, Texas before a panel of five (5) judges; and five (5) Finalists will advance to compete for the top three prizes. All Semifinalists will be considered for the Best Performance Awards. Should a Semifinalist need to withdraw from the competition, the first alternate will be contacted as soon as possible.
Commissioned Work:
SAIPC has commissioned a six to eight minute composition for this competition. Semifinalists will be sent the score for this work by July 15th, 2009, to permit ample time for its memorization. This score will be performed by the five contestants reaching the Final Round of Competition. The winner of this category will perform the work at the Winners Recital.
Transportation:
All transportation to and from San Antonio, Texas USA, will be the responsibility of the contestant.
Accommodations:
Lodging with a host family will be arranged for each contestant only. No lodging will be provided for family or other traveling companions.In addition to lodging, the host family will provide each contestant withthe use of a grand piano, food and all local transportation. Should the contestant’s stay fall outside the week of October 11 - 17, 2009, lodging, food and transportation will be his/her own responsibility.
Arrival and Departure Dates:
All Contestants are to arrive on Sunday, October 11, and are expected to remain through Saturday, October 17.
