Jeffrey Swann to Perform Final Concert in Beethoven Series SAIPC is pleased to announce that internationally renowned pianist Jeffrey Swann will perform the final concert of the Beethoven Piano Series on February 18, 2012. Because of serious elbow and nerve problems in his right arm, Santiago Rodriguez, who was originally scheduled to perform, will be unable to do so. Ryo Yanagitani CD Released SAIPC is proud to announce the release on November 8, 2011, of 2009 Gold Medalist Ryo Yanagitani’s first CD, Alone with Chopin, produced by Wonder of Sound. Recorded at the University of The Incarnate Word, the CD includes the Four Ballades, the Sonata No. 2 in B-flat and the Polonaise in A-flat. SAIPC Welcomes New Executive Director
SAIPC is pleased to announce the appointment of Loretta Maase as Executive Director. Loretta comes to us with a wealth of experience in grant writing, program development, marketing and promotion. She has been an executive director and been responsible for grant management for several non-profits. She studied classical piano for many years as a young person and planned to become a classical pianist before deciding raising her children would take precedence. She is a professional writer, a certified grant evaluator, has a business utilizing internet marketing, hosts a website, and is very experienced in social media. We welcome Loretta to SAIPC! |
Kasandra Keeling in Recital San Antonio International Piano Competition presents Kasandra Keeling performing works of Scarlatti, Mozart and Chopin on Saturday, November 5 at 7:00 PM, at the home of Drs. SAIPC Presents All 32 Beethoven Sonatas as part of 2012 Beethoven Festival Following the great success of the recent Tchaikovsky Festival, the San Antonio Symphony will present a Beethoven Festival in January and February, 2012, and the San Antonio International Piano Competition has been invited to showcase the composer’s piano repertoire during the festival. SAIPC is proud to announce performances of all 32 Piano Sonatas in eight concerts; the first time that all 32 sonatas have been presented as a series in San Antonio. Festival Artists include internationally recognized pianists Jeffrey Swann and Santiago Rodriguez; former SAIPC Gold Medalists Ryo Yanagitani, Naoko Takao, Audrey Andrist, and Richard Dowling; and two spectacular emerging young artists Spencer Myer and San Antonio native Christopher Guzman. Ryo Yanagitani to Perform with Cactus Pear Music Festival SAIPC is delighted to announce that 2009 Gold Medalist, Ryo Yanagitani, has been invited to perform on Program 3 of the fifteenth Cactus Pear Music Festival this July 7-17. The Cactus Pear Music Festival is one of San Antonio’s most acclaimed musical events, and SAIPC is proud to be a part of this collaboration. This season’s theme is Tour de Musique 15, and Program 3, Buried Treasures, will be presented at 7:00 PM on Thursday, July 14 at Coker United Methodist Church. Included on the program are the Puccini Chrysanthemums for string quartet, Mahler Piano Quartet in A Minor, Bizet Carmen Fantasy arr. SAIPC Announces Exciting Changes for the 2012 Competition The 2012 Competition will incorporate several changes which will heighten the excitement throughout the competition week. Instead of ten semifinalists, the 2012 Competition will invite twelve competitors to San Antonio, all of whom will compete in the Preliminary Round. At the end of the Preliminary Round, eight semifinalists will be announced, along with the announcement of winners of the Best Performance of a Work by a Baroque Composer and Best Performance of a Work by a Romantic Composer. At the end of the Semifinal Round, five finalists will be announced along with the names of the winners of Best Performance of a Work by a Classical Composer and Best Performance of a Work by a Spanish or Latin American composer. At the end of the Final Round, the jury will announce the names of the three medalists as well as the winner of the new award for Best Performance of a 20th or 21st-century Work, and composer Paul Moravec will announce the winner of the award for Best Performance of the Commissioned Work. |
